Who said feature walls were dead and gone?

I don’t think feature walls will ever go out of fashion. Adding colour to your home with paint is an inexpensive way to provide an accent or make a statement. Whether it’s a feature wall in your front entry to set the theme for the remainder of your home or a splash of colour on a wall to accentuate your artwork, have some fun experimenting. And, if you’re nervous about experimenting with colour, then try a couple of sample pots first to narrow done your choice.

Embracing Feng Shui practices

Use colour to create the energy you want in your home by adopting Feng Shui elements. Whilst colour choice is a personal thing, you could be guided by Feng Shui practices such as introducing yellows and oranges which encourage liveliness and cheerfulness or shades of blue and aqua to create a calming and soothing effect.

Certain colours will enhance the Feng Shui of your home: red promotes prosperity and balance while green encourages wealth. Consider painting your front door in either of these colours. Yellow is perfect for the kitchen as it encourages a high energy flow at the heart of your home.

So why not go out on a limb and experiment?

Use colours that represent you

Colour is a great way to create a living space that is essentially you. Is your home decor basically neutral and needs an uplift? Then introduce some colour by using textiles such as cushions, quilt covers and throws. They can be an inexpensive way to decorate and guess what? If you feel like a colour change when moving out of a dull winter into the spring season then change your cushion covers and throws and bring in some vibrant spring colours – happy colours to brighten up your living space.

Artwork always adds a beautiful finishing touch to any room especially when you select a piece that contains the elements of your existing colour scheme so that your space is totally coordinated. Artwork will add instant colour and style to your room and if you choose wisely you can add that WOW factor to your space.

After all, “Life’s more beautiful with colour”.
